Double Glazing: Why? How? And Where?

Double glazing is all the rage today, and with good reason too! Double glazed windows reduce heat loss, which means energy is saved and gas/electricity bills are reduced. Here are a few tips on how it works, where one can find double glazing agencies, and what to look for while choosing an agency.

Double glazing basically means installing two glass panes with a significant gap between them. The pocket of air that is created between the two panes acts as an excellent layer of insulation, and traps heat inside the house. It also reduces external noise. Double glazed windows are available in many different designs and sizes. Getting double glazed windows is not exactly a cheap affair. So it is a good idea to spend some time shopping around for a supplier, instead of going for the first agency on the local directory.

For example, if one is looking for conservatories Nottinghamshire , one can first do a quick internet search of all local listed suppliers and get quotes and other information from the shortlisted suppliers. Getting a specific quote always helps and for this, one must know their specific requirements.

Before selecting a supplier, it is a good idea to make sure you have been supplied with full drawings, samples, maybe some previous installations you could look at, a realistic timeline and most importantly, reasonable terms of payment.

The Wessex List ... supporting the community!
20th June 2007

The Wessex List now offers free listings to local bona-fide voluntary groups and registered charities alike. The brand new Charitable Listings are free of charge - provided that the listee is a not-for-profit organisation.

The manually edited web directory now also supports New Forest Community Media - a local not-for-profit organisation that just launched its Internet Media Service this month. NFCM would like to work towards eventually launching a community radio station, serving the New Forest National Park, whilst also developing its existing text-based content and web/podcasts.

To help raise funds for the project, which will also cover local business stories as part of its Community Matters stream, simply advertise on this site. 20% of all listing fees will be donated to NFCM. It's that easy!
